Michelin Collection  TRX

# Michelin Collection TRX: A Revolutionary Milestone in Tire Design The Michelin TRX marked a turning point in automotive history as the first low-profile tire designed to work in harmony with a specially engineered rim. Introduced in 1975, this integrated system redefined performance by ensuring even tension distribution across the tire casing—reflected in its name, *Tension Répartie*. Unlike conventional tires, the TRX system used a uniquely shaped rim with a lower, flatter flange, allowing the tire bead to form a smooth, continuous curve. This eliminated the abrupt 'S' bend found in standard designs, enhancing structural integrity and flexibility where it mattered most. This innovation delivered superior handling, especially during high-speed cornering, making it a favorite in elite motorsports like Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship. Drivers benefited from improved directional stability and responsiveness, contributing significantly to vehicle safety and control at the performance limit. The TRX also offered enhanced grip through optimized contact patch pressure, while its extended flex zone delivered surprising comfort for a performance-focused tire. Combined with a bold tread design, it gave vehicles a distinctive, modern appearance—both functionally and aesthetically ahead of its time..
